Bourbon Whiskey

Bourbon whiskey that is made of at least 51% corn or maize mixed with wheat, rye, or malted barley. Only whiskey made in the United States can be referred to as Bourbon Whiskey. It was first produced in Bourbon County Kentucky, but Bourbon is produced all over the United States.

Scotch Whisky

Legally, only whisky that is made in Scotland can be called Scotch whisky. It is usually referred to as Scotch. However, if you ask for whisky in Scotland, you will usually be given Scotch. It is distilled in Scotland from malted barley which is sometimes mixes with unmalted barley or other grains.

Irish Whiskey

The word “whiskey” is derived from the Gaelic phrase “uisce beatha”, meaning “water of life.” Grain whiskey made in Ireland is called Irish whiskey. There are a few varieties of Irish whiskey. The categories depend on the ingredients. Whiskey made only from malted barley is called single malt Irish whiskey. If it is made from a mix of malted and un-malted barley, it is called Pure Pot Still Whiskey. Blended whiskey is made from a mixture of malted barley and un-malted grains like corn or wheat.

Whiskey in the Jar

“Whiskey is the Jar” is the name of a traditional Irish song that tells a story about a highwayman. In the song, the highwayman robs a government officer. He is then turned in by a woman who is probably his wife or girlfriend. At the end of the song, the highwayman has been sent to prison for his crimes.

Whiskey Pete’s Hotel

Whiskey Pete’s is a part of the Primm Valley casino resorts. The hotel has accomodations for non-smokers and disabled guests. Whiskey Pet’s casino was opened in 1977 on the site of an old gas station. The hotel and casino are named after the former owner of the gas station.
